TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Bay Sun FC has signed defender Samar Guidry to a contract through the 2026 Fall season, with a club option for the 2027 season, the club announced today.

Guidry joins the Sun following a professional season with Dallas Trinity FC, where she made eight starts and appeared in eight matches during the 2025-26 season. A native of McKinney, Texas, Guidry developed through the FC Dallas Academy from 2017-20 before continuing her collegiate career at the University of Virginia.

During her time with the Cavaliers, Guidry appeared in more than 60 matches and earned All-ACC Second Team honors in 2021. She was also a consistent member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and All-Academic Team. As a senior in 2024, Guidry helped Virginia record 10 shutouts while scoring the first goal of her collegiate career.

Guidry also brings extensive experience with the U.S. Youth National Teams. She represented the United States at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and earned multiple U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team call-ups, including a spot on the 2022 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship roster.

“Samar is a fantastic addition to our group. She’s a fierce competitor and a very good one-v-one defender, but what really stands out is how much she can give us on both sides of the ball,” said Tampa Bay Sun FC Head Coach Denise. “She has an attacking mentality, wants to get forward and can create problems from a defensive position. Having already competed in this league with Dallas, she understands the level and can step in and make an immediate impact. We’re really excited to have her in Tampa Bay.”

Guidry will wear No. 27 for the Sun as she joins the club for the 2026 Fall season.
